Beaches on Lake Annecy at a glance

There is no single beach price on the lake. Some beaches charge an entrance fee in summer, others are free, and the dates when lifeguards are on duty differ from beach to beach. In summer 2025 the three city beaches of Annecy were free. In 2026 that is no longer true: Impérial charges admission.

All prices on this page are for 2026 and for adults unless noted. Tariffs and dates can change, so check the sign at the entrance.

Plage de l'Impérial and the city beaches

Impérial is one of Annecy's city beaches. For 2026 it charges admission from 4 July to 31 August, from 10:00 to 19:00, when it is also supervised. During that period it is closed at night from 22:00 to 6:00.

  • Regular entrance: €4.
  • Annecy residents: €2.50. Residents aged 10 to 17: €2. A companion for a person with reduced mobility enters free.
  • Season pass: €59 for adults and €49 for ages 10 to 17. Children aged 10 to 13 pay €1 when they come with a parent who holds a season pass.

The diving towers and the neighboring slide are closed to use for safety reasons. Outside the fee and lifeguard period, no supervision is listed for this beach.

Marquisats is free and open to walk into all year. Lifeguards are on duty from 4 July to 31 August 2026, from 11:00 to 19:00. It has showers, toilets and food. During the same dates and hours it offers an inclusive area with secured paths, acoustic guidance, accessible changing rooms and amphibious chairs.

Albigny, Saint-Jorioz and Doussard

Albigny lies on Avenue du Petit Port in Annecy-le-Vieux. Access is free. It has a lawn, showers, toilets and amphibious swimming aids. Lifeguard dates for the current summer are not confirmed here, so check the posted times on site.

Saint-Jorioz has a sand and lawn beach with showers, toilets, a ramp and amphibious chairs. Dogs are not allowed. It is supervised and charges a fee from 1 July to 31 August, daily from 9:30 to 17:30. At other times of year, access is free.

  • The municipal tariff for 2026 lists adults at €2.80, ages 10 to 17 at €1, and a reduced €1.30 after 16:30. Children under 10 are free. A magnetic card holder costs €2.
  • A regional tourism listing updated in August 2026 still shows €2.60 for adults and €1 after 16:30. Two published prices differ by 20 cents, so carry small change.
  • Multi-entry cards: 10 entries for €21 or 20 entries for €38 for adults, and a season pass for €22.

Douss'plage in Doussard is free and open all year. Lifeguards are on duty from 1 July to 31 August. Parking is paid from 1 May to 30 September: €0.70 for the first 30 minutes, then listed at €1.20 per hour, and a season pass costs €61. Dogs are not allowed. There is a public toilet, an outdoor shower, a ramp into the water and an amphibious chair.

Water quality and swimming rules

For Impérial, the health ministry lists samples taken on eight dates between 20 May and 26 August 2026. Every listed sample is rated "Good". The ministry's bathing season for that beach runs from 1 June to 31 August 2026. These results are for Impérial only and do not describe every beach on the lake. The site has no annual classification listed for 2026.

A regional tourism page showed a water temperature of 17 °C on 19 October 2026. That is a single reading at one spot, not a lake-wide figure.

The city of Annecy published rules in 2025 that ban swimming outside the public beaches, ban alcohol at the lakeshore between 22:00 and 6:00 until 31 October, and explain the national smoking ban on beaches. Those rules apply to the city shore. Follow the posted signs wherever you swim, and treat the supervised dates as the only dates when lifeguards are on duty.

The Bout-du-Lac nature reserve bans swimming and beach activities, including on the river and lake banks. Dogs are not allowed there, even on a leash. Douss'plage is a separate bathing spot, and its closeness to the reserve does not extend the swimming area.

Beaches in autumn

The supervised and paid summer seasons end on 31 August. After that, Marquisats, Albigny and Douss'plage remain open to walk to, but no lifeguard season is listed. The photo shows a wide beach at low water in autumn. Low water also changes how the lake works for boats: since 23 September 2026 the boat company has moved the departure of its sightseeing trips to Sevrier, so check the departure port on your ticket.

On the east shore, Talloires has a beach of its own. See the Talloires page for the roadworks that currently affect that side of the lake.
