Getting from Geneva to Annecy

Annecy lies in France, and Geneva airport is the usual arrival point. Line 272 links Genève-Aéroport and Annecy through Cruseilles. Alpbus runs it in partnership with the Geneva transport company TPG. Since 15 December 2025 the line has had a wider offer, with express, semi-express and local stopping trips.

Pick a trip from the timetable rather than counting on a bus every few minutes. The peak frequency of about every 10 minutes that is advertised for the line does not apply to the airport all day.

Bus 272 in detail

Timetable valid from 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026.

Weekday example

The trip leaving Geneva airport at 09:10 arrives in Annecy at 10:32. That is 82 minutes.

Weekend example

On Saturdays and Sundays the timetable shows one direct departure from the airport, at 19:15, arriving at 20:35. That is 80 minutes. Several other weekend trips start at Lancy-Pont-Rouge instead, so check the current timetable.

Fares in Switzerland and France

The route ticket costs €11.30. A ticket that also covers Geneva zone 10 costs €14.50, or €7.90 for young people. Day tickets cost €22.50, or €28.90 with zone 10. Youth fares apply to single tickets for passengers under 16. Accompanied children under 6 travel free.

Buy before you board

There are no sales on board on Swiss territory, so get your ticket first. At the border you need a matching Léman Pass ticket. A Sibra single ticket for the city buses does not cover the whole international trip.

A day trip from Geneva

One operator, Keytours, offers an Annecy city tour from Geneva. It lasts 5 hours and is listed from CHF 45 to 49, depending on the page. The price includes the bus there and back, a driver-guide, a walk through the old town and free time. Food is not included, and museum visits are not listed as included tickets.

The sample program leaves Geneva at 09:00, reaches Annecy at about 10:00, leaves again at 12:45 and gets back to Geneva at about 14:00. The program can change, and it is not a regular timetable. Five hours leave little time for the lake, so pick between the old town and the shore. The old town page shows what fits into a morning.

City buses in Grand Annecy

A digital single ticket costs €2 and an on-board ticket €2.50 since 6 January 2026. It is valid for 1 hour. A ten-trip card costs €13 for adults, €10 for under 26 and €11 for over 65. From 1 July 2026 the Sibra fare also applies to line 272, but only when your trip stays within Grand Annecy.

Parking in the paid zones

Since 1 July 2026 the first 30 minutes are free in the paid surface zones. The red zone is recommended for up to 3 hours at €9. From 1 July to 31 August it charges from 9:00 to 19:00 every day. The rest of the year it charges Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 19:00, and Sundays and holidays are free. A payment app can still show older limits and adds a service fee, so read the sign.

Private transfers and taxis

Ask for the fixed price in writing before you book a private transfer. If your transfer continues to Talloires, ask about the east shore closure described below.

Road works in autumn 2026

The department closed the RD 909A on the east shore, including the cycle path, from 14 September to 18 December 2026. The closure covers pedestrians and bicycles too. Talloires reports the closed stretch between La Glière and Angon. A detour via Menthon-Saint-Bernard is signposted. The RD 16 near Alex and the Défilé de Dingy has also been closed since 14 September, for an expected 12 weeks.

You cannot drive or cycle all the way around the lake right now. Read more on the Lake Annecy page.
