Talloires at a glance
Talloires lies on the east shore of Lake Annecy. Next to it rises the Roc de Chère, a rock and forest massif between Talloires and Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Part of it is a protected reserve, and the reserve is managed by Asters.
Most visitors come for the lake, the walks and the quiet. This page covers the walks and rules, the village beach, what to expect on the water and the roadworks that currently limit travel on this side of the lake.

What limits a visit to Talloires in autumn 2026
Check these before you plan a day on the east shore.
The east-shore road and cycle path are closed
The department has closed the road (RD 909A) and the cycle path between 14 September and 18 December 2026, around the clock, to secure the slope against falling rock, including blasting and clearing work. The closure applies to everyone, including pedestrians and cyclists. How long it lasts depends on the weather.
The lake loop cannot be completed
The Talloires municipality states that a full tour of the lake is not possible until December. Do not try to ride or walk around the closed section. A cycling climb from Veyrier to the Col de Bluffy on the RD 909 is also prohibited, and a detour via Menthon-Saint-Bernard is signposted.
A second road is closed at Alex
The RD 16 near Alex and the Défilé de Dingy has been closed since 14 September 2026. The department expects about 12 weeks. The municipality groups the closures up to 18 December, so do not count on an earlier reopening.
Boat connections are reduced
The municipality reports limited connections from Annecy and a continuing shuttle between Doussard and Talloires. The sightseeing cruises currently leave from Sevrier because of low water. Check the current timetable before you go.

Walking to the Roc de Chère
The lake's intercommunal association SILA warns that access to the reserve from Talloires bay follows a steep path and requires good walking ability. Do not count on this route for strollers or wheelchairs.
The reserve has its own rules, set out in the management leaflet:
- Dogs must be on a leash from 15 April to 30 June.
- No camping, bivouac or overnight stays in huts.
- No fires and no picking of plants.
- No motorized land vehicles.
These rules are specific to the Roc de Chère. The Bout-du-Lac reserve has different rules and bans dogs completely, even on a leash.
The Roc de Chère lies between Talloires and Menthon-Saint-Bernard, so a walk can link the two villages. See the Château de Menthon page for what to visit on the Menthon side.

The village beach
In July 2026 the municipality reported that the beach rebuild still needed considerable follow-up work after the June acceptance. This included redoing the lawn areas and finishing the irrigation in autumn. Do not expect a fully finished lawn beach this season. Look at the signs on site for entrance and supervision.
For beaches with confirmed fees and lifeguard dates, including Doussard on the same side of the lake, see the beaches page.

Paragliding and camping near Talloires
The tandem paragliding operator Aéroslide meets its guests in Doussard at 50 Chemin des Grands Prés. A transfer of about 20 minutes leads to the launch at the Col de la Forclaz, and the flight lands back in Doussard. Prices, weight limits and safety notes are on the paragliding page.
One campsite, La Chapelle Saint Claude in Angon in Talloires-Montmin, lists its own lake access and a private beach, with pitches and mobile homes. Not every campsite around the lake sits at the water's edge, and the closures above may affect the way to Angon, so confirm the route when you book. For other areas, see where to stay.

How to plan a day in Talloires
Start with the closures. If you come by car or bike on the east shore, check the road status for your exact route on the day. If you plan a boat trip, confirm the departure port first, because the cruises have left from Sevrier since 23 September 2026 and connections from Annecy are limited.
For a walk, choose the Roc de Chère only if you are comfortable on steep ground, and follow the reserve rules. If the weather turns, see the weather page for typical monthly conditions. For the bigger picture of swimming, cruises and cycling, go to Lake Annecy.
