Hotels in Annecy: choose an area first

Annecy works as a town base and as a lake base. Most visitors pick between the old town, the lakeshore beaches, the villages of the east shore, the west shore towns and a campsite. We compare these areas rather than single hotels, because the right area saves more time than the right room.

This page names no hotels and gives no room prices. Book through the booking site or the property you prefer, and read the cancellation terms. The taxes at the end of the page apply in addition to the room rate.

Annecy old town (Vieille Ville)

The base for sightseeing on foot.

What you get

The Palais de l'Isle stands on an island in the Thiou river, at Passage de l'Île. The old town market runs on Rue Sainte-Claire on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from 7:00 to 13:00, all year. The Palais is a museum site, and the Musée-Château has its own ticket. See the old town page for hours and prices.

What to check

Ask your hotel about parking, because the city has paid surface zones. Since 1 July 2026 the first 30 minutes are free, and the red zone is recommended for up to 3 hours at €9. Do not assume walking times from a hotel to the lake. Look at the map.

Lakeshore and Albigny

If beach days matter most, stay near the water. Albigny is a beach on Avenue du Petit Port in Annecy-le-Vieux with free access. It has a lawn, showers, toilets and amphibious swim aids. The Marquisats beach in Annecy is also free to enter and reachable by bus or by the cycle promenade.

The Impérial beach charges an entry fee in summer: €4 for an adult from 4 July to 31 August 2026, from 10:00 to 19:00. Compare the details on the beaches page. For cycling, note that the lake loop is broken this autumn, described on the Lake Annecy page.

Talloires and Menthon-Saint-Bernard

These villages lie on the east shore near the Roc de Chère, a wooded rock massif and protected area. Château de Menthon is in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, 10 km from Annecy. Talloires suits walkers.

Expect restrictions this autumn. The east shore road and cycle path are closed from 14 September to 18 December 2026, including to pedestrians and bicycles. The Annecy boat links are limited, while the Doussard to Talloires shuttle continues. The town beach at Talloires still needed finishing work after July 2026. Read the Talloires page before you book.

Sevrier and Saint-Jorioz

Sevrier lies on the west shore, on the Voie verte cycle path. Since 23 September 2026 it is also the departure point of the promenade cruises. Works on the path started on 12 October with a partial interruption of about 700 m. From 2 November a full closure applies between PK 6.3 and PK 8.47 for about 6 months.

The municipal beach at Saint-Jorioz is supervised and charges entry from 1 July to 31 August 2026, from 9:30 to 17:30. The rest of the year access is free. The 2026 tariff sheet of the town lists €2.80 for an adult, and €1.30 after 16:30. A tourism listing updated on 16 August 2026 shows €2.60 and €1. Dogs are not allowed.

Two examples show how different the sites are.

Seasons differ

Champ Tillet announced an opening from 30 April to 20 September 2026. It was not open all year, so check the season of any site you want.

Not every site is on the water

La Chapelle Saint Claude in Angon, in Talloires-Montmin, lists its own lake access and private beach, plus pitches and mobile homes. Do not assume every campsite sits on the shore.
